Halima Mahomed joined the Global Fund for Community Foundations as a Programme Consultant in 2010, focusing on an initiative to strengthen and support the practice and impact of community foundations in Africa. Halima has been active in the development sector for the last sixteen years. Between 2001 and 2010 she was primarily based at the Ford Foundation Office for Southern Africa, most recently working within the philanthropy and social protection initiatives. She has also worked with the Edge Institute, Itereleng, as a consultant to the Ford Foundation and to a South African Department of Environmental Affairs project. Halima holds a Masters (with distinction) in Development Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand, where she completed a research study on social justice philanthropy in South Africa.
